The truth is partner’s experience a lot of the pregnancy journey nowadays compared to our parents or grandparents’ generation. Unfortunately, they can’t feel the nausea, heart burn, mood swings or any of the physical stuff involved with growing a tiny human! But they can support their partner emotionally and help with the practical stuff!
We have put together a few tips for Partner’s on the Pregnancy Journey:
- Start a calendar! Remember to mark the due date, any medical appointments or special milestones during the Pregnancy.
- Support her emotionally! Ask her how she is feeling, offer support, listen and try to help where you can.
- Lots of pamper packages and TLC! Prepare healthy food and snacks, run a relaxing bath, massage her swollen feet!
- Help with the nesting process. Offer to de-clutter, clean or DIY if needed. Help prepare the nursery!
- Attend ante-natal classes and research your role within the labour ward so your prepared as possible!
- Prepare for post-partum! Emotions will be high due to hormones and lack of sleep. The postpartum stage will be testing for everyone so be prepared and be patient!
